DN1-DR-ID/S SUB-SURFACE DRUM FILLER

FROM CRANDALL INTERNATIONAL BY ODEN

WORLD CLASS PACKAGING MACHINERY FOR THE FOOD, CHEMICAL AND PETROLEUM INDUSTRIES

CONTAINERS:

The DN1-DR-ID/ sub-surface drum filler is capable of filling foaming or non-foaming liquids and semi-liquids into containers from 20 liters to 210 liters (5 to 55 gal.) It is normally used for filling containers from 50 to 210 liters (15 - 55 gal.) for most of the fills. It can be used for filling 20 liter/5 gallon containers, but is not as productive for filling this size as 25 liter capacity fillers.

PRODUCTS

The DN1-DR-ID model can fill foaming or non-foaming liquid and semi-liquid products with viscosities up to 500,000 cps if the product will level off in the container when poured.

OPERATION

The operator places an empty container on the filling platform with the opening below the nozzle and presses the operating button. The drip cup moves from below the nozzle, the nozzle descends so that the tip of the nozzle is at the bottom of the container, the nozzle opens and begins filling. As the container fills, the nozzle slowly rises. When the slow flow weight is reached at approximately 99% of fill weight, the product flow is reduced. When the shut-off weight is reached, the nozzle closes and rises. The drip cup moves below the nozzle. The operator removes the filled container, places the next empty container, and presses the operating button to begin the next fill.

Normally, the operator will seal and label the last-filled drum while the next drum is filled on the machine.

WEIGHING DEVICE/ACCURACY:

The machine uses an electronic digital scale with 10,000 increments to provide an accuracy of within +/- 100 gm (4 oz) of target fill weight.

INSTALLATION:

The machine is shipped assembled. It must be placed in its operating position; and connected to the compressed air source, the electrical source and to the product supply. The machine includes its own pneumatic filter, regulator and lubricator.

SUPPLY OF PRODUCT:

Product may be supplied to the machine from a gravity source (elevated tank) or from a pump. The maximum pressure acceptable on the product line is 3 bar (40 p.s.i.). If a pump is used, it should be a non-surging type and have the ability to limit the pressure at the machine connection.

CHANGE OF CONTAINER:

When changing containers, the weight settings must be changed.

CHANGE OF PRODUCT:

To change the product, the product source is disconnected and the contact parts drained. The contact parts are then flushed with a solvent.

MAINTENANCE:

The machine has a heavy duty welded steel frame. The standard paint is a stainless steel pigment polyurethane coating which is approved by the U.S.D.A. for use in food plants. Most system components are in protective enclosures.

The pneumatic and electrical systems have visual and tactile indicators for easy "trouble shooting." An illustrated installation/ operation / maintenance manual is included.

The regular maintenance includes lubrication of moving parts, emptying the pneumatic filter regularly, filling the pneumatic lubricator, and regularly cleaning the machine.

SAFETY:

The operator has an emergency stop botton to terminate the fill if he sees a problem.
See Options.

NOISE CONTROL:

The 'A' level is less than 20 db at 1 meter. Cylinders exhaust through mufflers inside the control box.

UTILITIES REQUIRED:

Electric: Less than 1 amp.
Pneumatic: 30 liters/min. at 6 bar (1 cu. ft/min at 80 p.s.i.).

PERSONNEL REQUIRED:

One worker is required to operate the machine. The worker will normally operate the filler, and close the containers.

OPTIONS:

Sanitary (3A) Contact Parts: The contact parts are assembled with 3A sanitary parts which are connected with "Tri-Clamp" connectors. They substitute butterfly valves for ball valves and ther interiors are polished. This is used in many food applications and applications where cleaning must be complete and easy.

Fume Cover: This is a fixture on the nozzle which would be connected to the plant exhaust system to remove fumes from around the nozzle area.

Operator Splash Guard: This polycarbonate guard is mounted on the filling head and places a shield between the nozzle and the operator's working position when the machine is filling.

Explosion Proof Operation: (ILLUSTRATED) This is available when the machine is to be used in a hazardous location.

Cleanliness Options: This includes such adaptations as stainless steel frame, special shields, and other devices to ease cleaning.

Special Adaptations: The machines may be modified to meet specific user requirements.

OPERATING SPACE:Approximately 110 X 155 cm (43" X 61"). Operating Height: 2 m (115")

SHIPPING MEASUREMENTS:Approximately 1.5 m x 1.75 m x 3 m (60" x 70" x 115")

SHIPPING WEIGHT:Approximately 725 kg (1600 lbs).

DN1-DR-ID/S DRUM FILLER ESTIMATED PRODUCTION RATE
CONTAINERS/HOUR

Filling speed estimates are based on the filling of water into containers with 7 cm (3 in.) openings from a tank 3 m (10 ft.) above the filling nozzle.

Product viscosity, use of pumps to supply product at higher pressure, and other product and installation characteristics will affect the actual production rate.

The production estimates are considered achievable in plant operation on a regular basis.

Crandall International closing and capping machinery can be used with CI fillers to complete the packaging operation.
