PRODUCTS
The DN1-PL-ID model can fill non-foaming liquid and semi-liquid products with viscosities
up to 500,000 cps if the product will level off in the container when
poured.
OPERATION
DRUMS:
Before entering the machine, drums are arranged so that the opening are
toward the center of the pallet (within a 60 mm/24" square), but in no special
arrangement.
The pallet is rolled onto the filling platform and centered. The operator holds
the positioning handle and presses the nozzle brake release button, then positions
the nozzle above the opening of a drum.
The operator releases the brake release button to lock the nozzle in position and presses
the start button. The nozzle descends, opens and begins fast fill.
When the drum is approximately 98% full, Slow-Flow will begin. When the Shut-Off
weight is reached, the nozzle will close and rise. The drip cup turns under the
nozzle.
When the durm is filled, the operatior moves the nozzle to the next drum and begins
filling.
When the last drum is filled, the pallet is discharged and the next pallet is moved onto the filling platform.
TOTES:
The operator moves an empty container on the filling platform with the opening
below the nozzle and presses the operating button. The drip cup moves from below the
nozzle, the nozzle descends so that the tip of the nozzle is inside the container opening,
the nozzle opens and begins filling in fast-flow. When the slow flow
weight is reached at over 99% of fill weight, the product flow is reduced.
When the shut-off weight is reached, the nozzle closes and rises. The drip cup moves
below the nozzle. The operator removes the filled
tote, places the next empty container, and presses the operating button to
begin the next fill.
WEIGHING DEVICE/ACCURACY:
The machine uses an electronic digital scale with 10,000 increments to
provide an accuracy within +/- 500 gm (0.5 lb) of target fill weight.
INSTALLATION:
The machine is shipped in two pieces, the filling machine and the scale controller
stand. The two sections must be connected and a factory technician is required
for final connections.
It must be placed in its operating position; and
connected to the compressed air source, the electrical source and to the product
supply. The machine includes its own pneumatic filter, regulator and lubricator.
Each machine is constructed to meet the requirements of the application.
SUPPLY OF PRODUCT:
Product may be supplied to the machine from a gravity source (elevated tank) or
from a pump. The maximum pressure acceptable on the product line is 3 bar
(40 p.s.i.). If a pump is used, it should be a non-surging type and
have the ability to limit the pressure at the machine connection.
CHANGE OF CONTAINER:
When changing containers, the weight settings must be changed and the
height of the nozzle must be changed. The nozzle height is
adjusted by a rack and gear system.
CHANGE OF PRODUCT:
To change the product, the product source is disconnected and the contact parts
drained. The contact parts are then flushed with a solvent.
MAINTENANCE:
The machine has a heavy duty welded steel frame. The standard paint
is a stainless steel pigment polyurethane coating which is approved
by the U.S.D.A. for use in food plants. Most system components are in protective enclosures.
The pneumatic and electrical systems have visual and tactile indicators
for easy "trouble shooting." An illustrated installation/ operation /
maintenance manual is included.
The regular maintenance includes lubrication of moving parts, emptying
the pneumatic filter regularly, filling the pneumatic lubricator, and
regularly cleaning the machine.
SAFETY:
The operator has an emergency stop botton to terminate the fill if
he sees a problem.
See Options.
NOISE CONTROL:
The 'A' level is less than 20 db at 1 meter. Cylinders exhaust
through mufflers inside the control box.
UTILITIES REQUIRED:
Electric: Less than 1 amp.
Pneumatic: 30 liters/min. at 6 bar (1 cu. ft/min at 80 p.s.i.).
PERSONNEL REQUIRED:
One worker is required to operate the machine.
OPERATING SPACE:Approximately 2 m x 2 m (80" x 80").
SHIPPING MEASUREMENTS:One Box Approximately 2 m x 2 m x 2.5 m (80" x 80" x 100"), one box
approximately 1.2 m x 1.2 m x 2 m (4 x 4 x 6 ft.)

Filling speed estimates are based on the filling of water into containers with
7 cm (3 in.) openings from a tank 3 m (10 ft.) above the filling nozzle.
Product viscosity, use of pumps to supply product at higher pressure, and other
product and installation characteristics will affect the actual production rate.
The production estimates are considered achievable in plant operation on a regular basis.
Crandall International closing and capping machinery can be used with CI
fillers to complete the packaging operation.
