WORLD CLASS PACKAGING MACHINERY FOR THE FOOD, CHEMICAL AND PETROLEUM INDUSTRIES

CONTAINERS:

The DN2-25-RD fillers are capable of filling containers from 1 to 25 liters (quart to 6 gal.) They are normally used for filling containers from 4 to 25 liters (1 -6 gal.) for most of their fills. The DN2-25-RD/S is a sub-surface filler, capable of filling foaming products.

The DN2-10-RD filler would be recommended if all fills were to be in the 1 to 10 liter (quart-2.5 gal.) range.

PRODUCTS

The DN2-25-RD filler can fill non-foaming liquid and semi-liquid products with viscosities up to 500,000 cps if the product will level off in the container when poured. Contact parts are available in brass & steel (standard), 316 Stainless Steel, Sanitary (3A) Stainless Steel, and Titanium to meet the needs of most filling situations.

The sub-surface model,DN2-25-RD/S, is capable of filling foaming liquids.

OPERATION

On the DN2-25-RD model the operator places an empty container on one filling platform with the opening below the nozzle and presses the operating button. The nozzle descends 50 cm (2") and opens. Fast-Fill begins. When the Slow-Flow Weight is reached, the product flow is reduced until the shut-off weight is reached and the nozzle closes and rises. While one nozzle is filling, the operator places the next container on the other platform and begins the next fill, discharging filled containers to the discharge container and placing empty containers as nozzles close.

On the DN2-25-RD Filler, the nozzle descends to the bottom of the container, and the tip opens. The nozzle rises slowly during fill.

If the containers filled are open top pails, the operator will place the lid on the filled pail before discharging and the container will exit the filler to a pail closer such as the CLA-25 or RPC. This permits one operator to perform both the filling and closing operations.

WEIGHING DEVICE/ACCURACY:

The machine uses two electronic load cell with digital indicators. The load cells are incremented to 0.02 kg or 0.05 lbs. Fast-Fill/Slow-Fill is included on the machine. Fill accuracy is maintained at +/-1 increment of target weight. (To +/- 0.1%)

The standard model uses a preset tare. The operator will place an empty container on each filling platform before filling and press the tare buttons. This will be maintained as the tare for all the fill, or until the operator tares another empty container. Automatic Tare for each container is optional.

INSTALLATION:

The machine is shipped assembled. It must be placed in its operating position and connected to the electric service, compressed air source, and product supply. The machine includes its own filter, regulator and lubricator for the pneumatic system.

SUPPLY OF PRODUCT:

Product may be supplied to the machine from a gravity source (elevated tank) or from a pump system. The maximum pressure acceptable on the product line is 3 bar (40 p.s.i.). If a pump system is used, it should be a non-surging type and have the ability to limit the pressure at the machine connection, and the system must be able to limit surges at the nozzles.

CHANGE OF CONTAINER:

When changing containers, the weight settings must be changed. On the DN2-25-RD filler the nozzle height is adjusted by rack and gear systems. The weight settings are entered on the scale controller keypads.

CHANGE OF PRODUCT:

To change the product, the product source is disconnected and the contact parts drained. The contact parts are then flushed with a solvent.

The machine may be equipped with removable product contact parts to permit all the contact parts to be quickly removed and replaced by a second contact parts unit to allow them to be cleaned at a remote cleaning station.

See Options: CIP nozzle, Sanitary Contact Parts.

MAINTENANCE:

The machine has a heavy duty welded steel frame. The standard paint is a stainless steel pigment polyurethane coating which is approved by the U.S.D.A. for use in food plants. The construction is open so that it can be easily cleaned. Key parts are stainless steel. Most system components are in protective enclosures.

The pneumatic and electrical systems have visual and tactile indicators for easy "trouble shooting." An illustrated installation/ operation / maintenance manual is included.

The regular maintenance includes lubrication of moving parts, emptying the pneumatic filter regularly, filling the pneumatic lubricator, and regularly cleaning the machine.

SAFETY:

The operator has an emergency stop botton to terminate the fill if he sees a problem. There are no large moving parts.

NOISE CONTROL:

The 'A' level is less than 30 db at 1 meter. Cylinders exhaust through mufflers inside the control box.

UTILITIES REQUIRED:

Electric: The scales must be conneted to a clean electrical sources with 110-120 v, 50-60 hz, 1 phase service. The solenoids require the same electrical service.
Pneumatic: The system requires approximately 60 liters/min. at 6 bar ( 2 cu. ft/min at 80 p.s.i.)

PERSONNEL REQUIRED:

One worker is required to operate the machine. If open top pails are filled, the operator will normally place the lids.

OPTIONS:

Motorized Discharge Conveyor: This is recommended in almost all installations. The conveyor includes a guide to move the containers into a single line at discharge so that they may pass in a single line to the closing/capping/labeling operations.

Splash Reduction Nozzle (DN2-25-RD): This nozzle is used when filling open top pails with low viscosity and splash greatly. It exits the product through approximately 100 small holes rather than one large stream.

CIP Nozzle (DN2-25-RD): This nozzle is similar to the standard "No-Drip" nozzle, except the end has a sanitary "Tri-Clamp" flare to permit quick attachment of a hose with a "Tri-Clamp" end. With the connection of a hose to the machine's entry, it permits flushing in both directions. Containers must have a minimum opening size of 75 mm (3") diameter.

Sanitary (3A) Contact Parts: The contact parts are assembled with 3A sanitary parts which are connected with "Tri-Clamp" connectors. They substitute butterfly valves for ball valves and ther interiors are polished. This is used in many food applications and applications where cleaning must be complete and easy.

Automatic Tare: The automatic tare option causes each container filled to be tared before fill. This is recommended only if the weight of the containers is variable.

Fume Cover: This is a fixture on the nozzle which would be connected to the plant exhaust system to remove fumes from around the nozzle area.

Operator Splash Guard: This polycarbonate guard is mounted on the filling head and places a shield between the nozzle and the operator's working position.

Cleanliness Options: This includes such adaptations as stainless steel frame, special shields, and other devices to ease cleaning.

Explosion Proof Operation: The machine may be equipped with electrical components suited to Class I,II; Div. I,II; Group C,D for operation in hazardous areas. The system utilizes Explosion Proof Enclosures and does not require a purge system.

Special Adaptations: The machines my be modified to meet specific user requirements.
